THE "FORMAL" BIO
I'm a guitarist, composer, and educator with a degree in music and over 15 years of experience writing, recording, and performing music. Through my teaching, videos, and courses, I help guitarists go from feeling lost and frustrated on the fretboard to becoming confident, creative players who actually understand what they’re doing.
I run Substantia Studios, a recording and production studio in Puerto Rico, and my work fuses deep musical knowledge—think harmony, voice leading, and composition—with practical, real-world application. I'm also guitarist for the band Lilac Stranger, where I get the chance to use all these musical concepts i've learned over the years to express emotion through sound, which is an incredibly rewarding experience.
My goal is to demystify music theory, empower you with systems that actually stick, and help you play like the musician you hear in your head. Whether you’re a bedroom guitarist trying to break through a plateau or a songwriter looking to level up your skills, I’m here to give you tools, clarity, and confidence—without the fluff.
MY STORY
I started out the same way a lot of guitarists do—playing whatever I could get my hands on, learning by ear, watching YouTube videos, and piecing it all together as I went. I got good enough to write songs, join bands, and even tour internationally—but for years, I felt like I was missing something.
I could play—but I didn’t understand. I’d get stuck improvising, couldn’t explain what I was doing, and sometimes just felt straight-up lost on the fretboard.
That changed when I committed to actually learning the language of music—and more importantly, applying it in ways that felt musical, not academic. That shift completely transformed how I played, taught, and approached guitar.
Now I teach those same systems to guitarists around the world—musical concepts that actually make sense, taught in a way that helps you hear and feel what’s going on, not just memorize finger patterns or diagrams. Because the goal isn’t just to get better at guitar—it’s to feel free when you play.
MY VALUES
I believe great guitar playing comes from a mix of curiosity, creativity, and clarity.
My goal is to help you enjoy learning guitar again—not just grind through practice routines or get stuck in theory rabbit holes. That means I focus on musicality first: the why behind the notes, not just the shapes under your fingers.
It also means respecting your time. I’m not here to flood you with information—I’m here to help you actually get results.
At the end of the day, I’m just a musician who loves this stuff and wants to pass on what I’ve learned. I believe anyone can learn to see the fretboard clearly, write great music, and feel proud of how they play.
